The role sits within the Quality Assurance & Test team and is critical to ensuring the quality of code created within the BSS and OSS business functions. The role engages with internal and external customers to lead and co-ordinate testing on small projects to large programmes.

The request for a Test Lead is to lead and co-ordinate the test planning and test execution for project/programme test activity including the following responsibilities:

 

  • Lead testing and co-ordinate a pool of matrix testers to ensure activities are carried out in line with expectations including production of test artefacts and test execution, to ensure quality of testing and in line with expected timelines

  • Liaise with change and programme management and act as main point of contact on project specific testing requirement, ensuring there is visibility of plans, issues and also risks

  • Produce test plans and ensure approval and sign off by key stakeholders

  • Review functional and non-functional requirements, raise issues and reject poor and/or unclear requirements

  • Ensure that test cases are written and ensure approval by key stakeholders

  • Ensure traceability of requirements to test specifications

  • Work collaboratively with BSS & OSS Delivery teams to understand gaps in testing and ensure any gaps are covered within the test phases and where there are exceptions, raise the risk of impact to the application

  • Co-ordinate the set-up, connectivity and configuration of a test environment including data requirements to support testing to ensure entry criteria met for entry into testing

  • Manage and update defects and issues using the defect management tool

  • Facilitate triage meetings to drive resolution of issues and defects, engaging with relevant teams to ensure these are resolved quickly

  • Provide regular update reports on test progress to stakeholders

  • Ensure all testing is delivered according to agreed quality levels and timescales and exit criteria are met

  • Produce Test Exit report and ensure it is approved by key stakeholders

  • Ensure test closure activities are completed

  • Ensure adherence to defined release and quality gates

  • Obtain and maintain a full understanding of the end to end system landscape, as well as the high priority areas relevant to testing

  • Collate and maintain knowledge documents to drive and ensure the teams understanding of the product from a systems perspective and which can be used for knowledge transfer to other test leads/testers

  • The ability to influence stakeholders across the BSS and OSS functions and champion the need for testing processes, explaining the benefits and justifications

  • Contribute to Continual Service Improvement within the Quality Assurance & Test function

  • Contribute to QA&T Strategy

Must have: (Only include essential skills)

ISTQB/ ISEB Foundation Qualification. Proven experience leading test activities and test teams Excellent problem solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Be great to also have: (all other skills & competencies)

Qualified to degree level of equivalent ISTQB/ ISEB intermediate or advanced Test automation experience Experience of telecoms technology, systems and processes Process improvement experience
