Trading Manager - TV and TV Content

Our Trading Team are responsible for how we drive long term value and customer growth at TalkTalk.  They are accountable for the go to market strategy for new and existing products right across the customer lifecycle from the sale to cancelations, they coordinate with many stakeholders across our Direct Consumer business unit.

About the role

You will be accountable for the Go To Market plan for new products including Broadband and TV hardware and TV content.  Defining the strategy, coordinating the execution, and then nurturing the performance of the product through the first 12 months taking it to a state that is ready to be treated alongside existing products.

Working closely with the product owners and commercials teams, you will take new products and services to market in the most effective way.  This requires a deep understanding of customer needs including where and how they buy from us.  Being able to bring the product to life in channels alongside our existing products so as not to disrupt their performance is also key.

You will have good relationship building skills, be able to analyse data and use it to make decision or get support for change.  Self-motivated and restless to drive constant improvement is especially important.

Role expectations

Accountable for the go to market strategy for new products and service across both New Acquisition and Inlife sales.  Defining the strategy, agreeing the approach with the product team, marketing, and channels to successfully launch and then build performance in line with plan.

A key stakeholder in the early stages of the product development, advising on the best way to sell to new and existing customers, the channel mix and making sure the processes and systems to enable us to sell are considered and development from the beginning.

Once the go to market launch strategy has been agreed, it’s then about making sure everything is ready to launch in to market across all of our voice and digital channels.  And, after launch you will quickly get a deep understanding of the drivers of performance and deciding where corrective action might be needed.  Constantly curious you will be motivated by understanding the root causes of performance and continually ask “why?” to optimise the product performance as quickly as possible.

You will be an excellent communicator, being able to translate often complicated reasons for performance into simple Director and Exec level summaries using numbers, charts, and words.  Having strong Excel skills is a must.  You must be able to clearly articulate what is happening but also why it’s happening along with any recommendations for change, in a way that enables quick and easy decision making.

You will need to think like a customer. This includes understanding TalkTalk’s positioning the market and why a customer would choose us, as well as being aware of what is going on internally at TalkTalk and anticipating anything which might be and opportunity or a risk.

Stakeholder management and being able influence across products, marketing, channels, commercial and finance – whilst the accountability for overall performance sits with you, many of the levers sit in other teams so being able to persuade and influence is key to your success.
