Access Network Specialist
We are currently looking for an Access Network Specialist to join our expanding office in Manchester, Salford Quays!
As an Access Network Specialist you will be responsible for the inception, design and test of Network Designs and Systems within the Access Engineering function. A senior role, within IP Access Engineering you will be required to support the Access Network Engineering Manager taking technical and procedural ownership for all current and new projects within the team. You will be responsible for the delivery and support of both existing and new projects on our expanding Access Network. As an SME you will represent IP Access Engineering at Project meetings providing technical content to ensure smooth and safe delivery of both existing and new work streams.
How will I add value in this role?
You will take technical ownership of new projects to ensure a smooth transition from development to deployment, ensuring that design, project and operational processes are created, reviewed, maintained, approved and adhered to.
You will conduct High Level and Low-Level Design Documentation completion, ensuring all requirements are captured and accommodated.
You will be the Technical Lead for the Access Network Engineering Team, identifying areas for procedural and technical improvement for both existing and new work streams within the Access Network and ensure these are developed, documented and trained out to the team.
You will support the Access Network Engineering Manager, by providing continuity and consistent support for existing and future projects.
As an Access Network Specialist you will represent Access Engineering at internal meetings such as Network Design and Project Delivery. You will produce and perform network test plans. You will conduct Network software analysis, design and testing, including regression testing and Proof of Concept.
You will also develop new technologies within Access Network and offer 3rd Line Operational Support.
What do I need in order to deliver in this role?
- Extensive Knowledge of Access Network
- L2/L3 - Routing & Switching Experience
- Experience of a Telco/ISP Environment
CCNP / JNCIS or working towards
- Effective Communicator
Be great to also have:
- Scripting and Test Automation experience
- Project Management experience
- Vendor Technical Engagement experience
