About the role
The team manages the network infrastructure within the 3000+ BT Exchanges, providing our customer base with access to TalkTalk's Next Generation Quad Play Network. This is an exciting opportunity for an IP Access Engineer to join a fast-growing team, who are at the start of a large migration project.
As an IP Access Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery and support of both existing and new projects on our expanding Access Network, including but not limited to TalkTalk's MSAN, DSLAM, Cisco, Huawei, Juniper and Ericsson SmartEdge estate. This will also include managing projects to ensure that network changes are implemented in line with defined change management procedures, with minimal interruption to operational services.
You will be a team player and work closely with different departments across the business including providing remote support and provisioning of TalkTalk's Access Network to field Engineering in addition to supporting the TalkTalk NOC and Operational Teams. Technical liaison with internal teams and external third-party suppliers will also be required to manage the investigation and resolution of network issues. Working in conjunction with operations, you will be expected to manage network changes or upgrades (ensuring that they are implemented with minimal interruption to the end customer).
You will troubleshoot and configure the Access Network using technologies such as Layer 2 Switching and Layer 3 Routing and complete network optimisation, capacity and software upgrade activities. You will also ensure a timely resolution of network incidents, minimising the impact of any network outages.
Occasional out of hours and on call duties will be required as determined by the requirements of the business.
To be successful in this role you will hold either CCNA or JNCIA accreditation and have experience of L2/L3 routing and switching experience. You will also have experience of working within Telco/ISP.
