About the Lead Pega Software Developer role!
As a Lead Pega Software Engineer, you will work within a multi discipline software delivery team and act as a true technical lead. You will be expected to undertake activities at all stages of the SDLC including engagement with Business Stakeholders, Solution Design and Business analysis.
Our Lead Pega Software Engineers have the ability to own, shape and mould our systems, by producing high quality designs and code to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.
A large part of your role will be to act as a mentor, coach and technical lead to the rest of the team and the department.
You should constantly be gaining knowledge of our systems and always living our department’s foundations and values, having Smart Systems, excellent teamwork and culture, ensuring all our work is of high quality, supporting and empowering our people and driving continuous improvement.
As a part of our team, you will be helping us to drive forwards best practice adoption and creation in our software architecture and coding patterns and principles, and adding to our constant drive to be the best at what we do.
How will I add value in this role?
You’ll be adding value by being a true Technical Lead within our department, mentor, guide, coach and support everyone around you to ensure we hit our deadlines, develop our people and succeed as a team. You’ll be taking ownership of issues and see them through to resolution and undertaking, supporting and leadig all software delivery activities when required including Estimation, Detailed Design, Coding, Unit Testing, Deployment activities and supporting creation and Execution of System Testing. By knowing how to plan, estimate and build good software, you will be able to communicate the resources required for a project to succeed for our customers.
You’ll be a role model of quality in all of your actions to set a positive example to the rest of the team. You’ll ensure that all documentation and data is up to date throughout our systems in order to be able to track and monitor all activities undertaken accurately. You’ll build a knowledge of our systems and wider TalkTalk Software estate and teams, so that you can understand complex end to end customer journeys in order to aid you and those around you to create the right solution for our customers. You’ll work with Business Analysts and Solution Designers to understand the business requirements to assist with the creation of high-level solution designs and ensure our low level design and code delivers on our customers’ needs. You will take the lead in driving continuous improvement within the team and wider department such as innovation initiatives, technical debt removal, automation and process improvements always leaving our systems in a better state every time you work on them.
You’ll ensure everything produced by our team is of good quality, by performing code, design and test review and delivering feedback in a constructive and supportive manner. This could include reviewing the work of Peers as well as more junior staff leading to reducing defects and incidents.
You’ll support and assist the Team Leader to prepare deployment plans and highlight all know dependencies, including deputising for the team leader when required. Validate Test Plans and Cases for our systems as they progress through each of the further testing levels. You’ll help to define and promote best practices for software development within the department, and ensure the use of them when it is the right thing to do. You’ll support the Technical Operations teams, Team Leaders and Platform Owners to ensure systems are operationally stable, supported by Delivery when required and released safely during deployments.
To be a success in this role, you’ll need Pega PRPC experience delivering Pega enterprise solutions. You’ll have knowledge of Pega PRPC 7 - (CSSA). You’ll have experience of producing low-level artefacts for use by developers & testers and excellent knowledge of current coding practices and implementations in Pega. You will need to have at least 3 years of Pega PRPC experience delivering Pega enterprise solutions and at least 7 years demonstrable experience in Software Development Lifecycle. You’ll have a strong understanding of Branching and Merging. You’ll need to be a strong collaborative team worker, excellent communication skills, strong coaching and mentoring skills.
It would be great if you had Data Models: SID Pega Robotics and OpenSpan experience. Experience of WebSphere, C#, .Net, C++, Microsoft SQL Server, automation testing, continuous integration, CA Test Data Manager, CA Service Virtualisation, Pega Frameworks: Pega Call, CS & Decisioning, RESTFUL Services, XML/XSD & JSONll would advantageous.
