System Analyst

Salford Quays, Manchester

System Analyst - TalkTalk - Manchester

What does a System Analyst role at TalkTalk look like?

A System Analyst's core responsibility is to turn high-level solution designs and the associated set of user stories into low level artefacts to be used by developers and testers to ensure that our software systems meet the customers’ requirements (user story acceptance criteria).

Having defined the methodology that their team will follow the System Analyst then works with the developers and testers to create software systems that meet the low-level artefacts they produced, deliver the desired behaviour and conform to architectural blueprints.

What will my role look like?

This role is senior level and is key within TalkTalk. Ideally, we need someone with a technical background (C# or SQL) who can come in and understand the existing systems & their capabilities.

Work will come in from the wider business and you will need to dive into high level documents, analyse and pick them apart and create estimates. You’ll need to look at dependencies and resource, and from there will create a backlog and map out work for the next release.

You’ll work with the delivery teams to identify innovations and improvements to systems and delivery processes and will help to define and promote best practices for software development within the department. Technical leadership will be a key part of your role in the delivery team across the full SDLC; being the point of contact for escalations or blockers and helping to coach and mentor the developers and testers in finding their own solutions.

Engaging early on with solution designers will be important as you will need to help steer them in the right direction and work with them as well as Business Analysts to understand the business requirements and produce high-level solution designs

What will help me to be successful in this role?

  • Sound knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience of producing low level artefacts for use by developers & testers
  • Technical background (ideally C# or SQL)
  • Good knowledge of APIs
  • Solid OOP principles
  • Experience of Waterfall / Agile Delivery models

Personal:

  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills
  • Strong collaborative team worker
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail
